Mighty Buildings Driveway & Pavers: The Tampa Owner’s Guide
We install and replace Mighty Buildings-compatible driveway and paver systems in Tampa, with most paver driveways running $7,000 to $18,000 installed depending on square footage, base condition, and paver type. We keep Belgard pavers in stock at our Tampa yard, which means most paver repairs and driveway replacements can start within days, not weeks. The typical Mighty Buildings owner discovers the problem the hard way: a paver that’s sunk half an inch after a summer storm, a driveway edge that’s started to crumble into the lawn, or standing water pooling against the slab after 2 p.m. thunderstorms roll through.
If you’re seeing any of that, the issue is almost never the Mighty Buildings structure itself. It’s the ground work underneath, and that’s what this page breaks down.
Which Mighty Buildings Models This Applies To

Mighty Buildings produces panelized and 3D-printed prefab structures, and most of their residential units sit on a concrete slab or a raised pier foundation. The driveway and paver work we do ties directly to that interface point: where the building’s finished floor meets the exterior grade, and where vehicle traffic meets the slab edge. That junction is where Tampa’s sandy soil and heavy seasonal rain do the most damage.
For any Mighty Buildings model, the driveway and paver spec comes down to three things you can check yourself. First, walk the slab perimeter and look for the expansion joint gap between the building slab and the driveway approach. If that gap is gone or packed with debris, water is being forced somewhere it shouldn’t be. Second, check the paver border nearest the building. Mighty Buildings structures use a tight drainage tolerance, so the pavers need to pitch away from the slab at a minimum 2% grade, which in Tampa means roughly a quarter inch of fall per foot. Third, if you have the original site plan, look for the hardscape callout: most Mighty Buildings residential units spec a 4-inch compacted base with 6×9 or 8×8 pavers in the driveway zone. If your installer used 4×8 pavers or skimped the base to 2 inches, that’s the failure point, not the pavers.
We treat OEM and aftermarket the same way we treat every brand we service, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone: the original spec matters, but the install quality matters more. Belgard and Unilock pavers are documented, manufacturer-warranted products that match or exceed the typical Mighty Buildings hardscape spec, and we can pull the manufacturer spec sheet for any paver we quote.

Signs Your Mighty Buildings Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers sinking or dipping in a traffic line. This is almost always base failure. Tampa’s sandy subsoil compresses unevenly under repeated vehicle weight, and a 2-inch base simply isn’t enough. We see this most often on driveways installed by landscapers who bid the job as a patio, not a driveway.
- Water pooling against the Mighty Buildings slab. The grade has flattened out over time, which means the drainage pitch is gone. In Tampa, standing water against a slab edge is a slow-moving problem with fast consequences: erosion under the slab, efflorescence on the paver surface, and eventually a shifted paver field.
- Pavers rocking or “clacking” when you walk on them. The bedding layer has washed out. Tampa’s afternoon downpours move fine sand through the paver joints, and once the bedding is uneven, the pavers pivot on each other. If you hear it, the damage is already happening underneath.
- Cracks appearing in the paver border or soldier course. The edge restraint has failed. Without a solid edge, the paver field spreads outward under load, and the outside rows take the stress. This is a cheap fix if caught early and a full field re-lay if you wait.
- White residue on the paver surface, especially near the slab. That’s efflorescence, and in Tampa it usually means water is moving up through the pavers from below. It’s not just cosmetic. It tells you the sub-base isn’t draining the way it should.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Tampa, a full paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 to $18,000 installed. A paver patio tied to a Mighty Buildings unit runs $3,500 to $11,000. Driveway sealing with joint sand stabilization runs $250 to $700, which is worth doing every two years in our climate if you want the base to hold. Concrete driveway replacement runs $4,500 to $12,000 if you’d rather go slab than paver.
What drives the price range is square footage, base depth, and access. A driveway that requires hand-carrying pavers because the side gate is 32 inches wide costs more than one where we can run a skid steer straight in. Every quote includes demolition and haul-off of the existing surface, base preparation, paver or concrete install, edge restraint, and final joint sand. We don’t add change orders for discovering bad soil because we already know Tampa’s soil is bad and we price for it up front.
Every paver and driveway job we complete carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the pavers settle, the edge fails, or the drainage doesn’t hold within one year of close-out, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it’s a written guarantee you’ll have in your hand before we leave the site.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can check and things you shouldn’t touch. Walk your driveway after the next rain and mark where water pools. That information saves us time and you money. You can also sweep fresh joint sand into loose joints if you catch it early. What you shouldn’t do is pull up pavers yourself and try to re-level them with bagged sand from the big box store. Once you break the paver field pattern without re-establishing the edge restraint and compacting the base, you’ve created a bigger repair than the one you started with.
The safe play is to call us at (941) 655-9297. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed crew to look at the base, the grade, and the slab interface, and you’ll get a written price before any work starts. Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at close-out.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Tampa lasts 25 to 30 years with re-sanding every two years and occasional edge repair. The pavers themselves don’t wear out. The base and the edge restraint fail first, and that’s what determines the real lifespan.
Yes, spot repair works when the damage is limited to one area and the base failure hasn’t spread. We lift the affected pavers, re-compact and re-level the base, re-set the pavers, and re-sand the joints. If the edge restraint has failed across the whole field, spot repair is a band-aid. Call (941) 655-9297 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in, with a price for the fix.
Most Tampa paver driveway replacements take two to three working days from demo to final sand. Concrete driveway replacement takes three to five days including cure time before vehicle traffic. Weather is the wildcard: a three-day afternoon thunderstorm pattern pushes us back, and we’ll tell you that at the quote, not the day before.
We keep Belgard pavers in stock at our Tampa yard in the most common Tampa hardscape colors and sizes, including 6×9 and 8×8 driveway units. If you need a custom color or a Unilock pattern, we order it and it typically arrives in three to five days. Either way, you’ll know the timeline before you sign anything.
