Tuff Shed Driveway & Pavers: The Tampa Owner’s Guide
We install paver and concrete driveways sized for Tuff Shed footprints, and in Tampa the installed price typically runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, site prep, and paver selection. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a shed door that won’t open because the slab shifted, or pavers that sank into soft soil after a heavy rainy season. The driveway or pad under a Tuff Shed takes real load, and Florida’s water table doesn’t do you any favors.
We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Tuff Shed. That means we can match whatever base you currently have under the shed, and we carry materials on the truck for most paver and concrete replacements in the Tampa area.
Which Tuff Shed Models This Applies To

Tuff Shed builds on two main foundation types in Florida: a pressure-treated wood floor system or a concrete slab. The driveway and paver approach depends on which one your shed sits on. The Premier PRO series and the taller barn-style models often sit on concrete pads, while the base Ranch and Sundance lines frequently use wood floor frames that can be set on compacted gravel or pavers.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: if your shed has a wood floor system, the driveway surface should terminate at the shed’s skid line, not butt hard against the floor frame. Tampa’s wet season swells the ground, and a concrete or paver edge tight to the wood accelerates rot at the rim joist. We leave a proper gap and grade the surface so water runs away from the shed, not under it. If you aren’t sure what you have, look under the shed for a visible joist frame versus a solid concrete edge, or check for a manufacturer tag near the door header. We match pavers and concrete to what’s already there, and for aftermarket work we use Belgard and Unilock pavers because their color lot consistency means a repair section doesn’t look like a patch job five years later.

Signs Your Tuff Shed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking pavers near the shed door. This usually means the base layer under the pavers wasn’t compacted in lifts. Tampa’s sandy soil settles fast when water runs through it, and a thin gravel base gives way. The pavers telegraph that movement within a season or two.
- Water pooling against the shed wall or floor frame. Grade failure, plain and simple. A proper driveway or pad falls away from the shed at a quarter inch per foot. If water stands, the slope was never cut right, and that water is working on your shed’s framing every time it rains.
- Cracks radiating from the shed corner. Concrete slabs crack when the subgrade is uneven or a root swells underneath. Tampa’s oak roots are aggressive, and a slab poured over unexcavated root systems will crack at the stress points, usually starting at a shed corner.
- Pavers rocking underfoot or separating at the edges. Edge restraint failure. Without a solid border secured against lateral movement, pavers drift outward under repeated loading and the tight joint pattern opens up. Once the edges go, the middle follows.
- A visible gap forming between the driveway and the shed itself. The base is eroding from underneath. Rain moves fines out of the subgrade, the surface drops, and the gap widens. That gap then funnels more water under the shed, and the cycle accelerates.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a paver driveway or shed pad in Tampa, plan on $7,000 to $18,000 installed. The spread comes from three things: total square footage, how much of the old base has to be excavated and hauled off, and whether we’re working around existing landscaping or utility lines. A plain concrete driveway runs lower, in the $4,500 to $12,000 range, and that’s the right call when the shed sits on a concrete slab and you want everything monolithic.
Every quote includes removal of the failed surface, re-grading and compaction of the subgrade, a proper base layer (typically 4 to 6 inches of compacted limerock or aggregate), edge restraint where applicable, the pavers or concrete itself, and a clean site when we leave. We offer written line-item pricing before any work starts, so you see exactly what the materials cost and what the labor costs. The workmanship warranty is one year under our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the surface shifts or settles inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the grade yourself with a four-foot level and a hose. If water flows away from the shed on all sides, your drainage is fine and the issue may be localized settling rather than a full replacement. What you shouldn’t do is haul out a compromised base by hand and re-lay pavers without compaction equipment. A hand tamper doesn’t achieve the same density as a plate compactor, and Tampa soil will settle again within one wet season. The same caution applies to cutting concrete, which throws silica dust and chips that are genuinely hazardous without proper respiratory protection and eye shielding.
If the failure is edge erosion or one sunken paver, a repair may make sense. If the base is gone, a patch job will kick the problem down the road six months. Call (941) 655-9297 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in, straight.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway over a compacted aggregate base should last 20 to 30 years in Tampa with routine joint sand top-ups, and a concrete slab driveway should last 25 to 40 years if the rebar was placed right and the subgrade was stable. What kills surfaces early in this market is water, not wear. Call (941) 655-9297 for an evaluation if yours is failing inside a decade.
Yes, if the base is still solid and only the surface layer has shifted or cracked. Isolated paver replacement, edge re-restraint, and localized slab leveling are all viable when the underlying compaction is intact. If the base has washed out, repair turns into a recurring bill. We’ll tell you which one you have before we quote anything.
Most Tuff Shed driveway and paver replacements in Tampa run 3 to 5 working days from demolition to final compaction, weather permitting. Concrete adds curing time before you should drive a vehicle on it, usually about 7 days. You’ll have a clear schedule and a written scope before we start.
We stock the common Belgard and Unilock paver lines on our Tampa trucks along with base aggregate, edge restraint, and joint sand. Special-order colors or textures add a few days to the schedule since we order them by lot to keep the color consistent. Give us the existing paver dimensions or a photo and we can match it on-site.
If your Tuff Shed driveway or paver pad is sinking, cracking, or holding water against the shed, don’t wait until the door won’t open and the framing starts to rot. Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at close-out. Call (941) 655-9297 for a free estimate, and we’ll put the price in writing before any work begins.
