Cambria Driveway & Pavers: The Tampa Owner’s Guide

If you’re pricing a Cambria-compatible paver driveway or need repair work on an existing one in Tampa, the installed cost typically runs $7,000 to $18,000 for a full paver driveway, with repair work priced by the square foot depending on what failed underneath. We stock the common replacement pavers, edge restraints, and base materials on the truck, so most repairs are done in a single visit, not three trips spread across two weeks.

Here’s how most Tampa homeowners find us: the paver driveway looked fine for eight or nine years, then one afternoon a section sank two inches after a summer storm. Water had been working its way through the joints for years, washing out the base underneath. The pavers themselves are usually fine. The failure is almost always below them.

We’re an independent Tampa contractor, not affiliated with Cambria. But we install and repair paver systems that sit alongside Cambria outdoor surfaces, and we carry the matching edge restraints, joint sand, and base rock that keep those installations stable. Curtis Lane runs the job scheduling here, and he’s the first to say a paver driveway only works as well as what’s underneath it.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria is a quartz surface manufacturer, so you won’t find a “Cambria driveway” in the way you’d find a Belgard or Unilock paver line. What Tampa homeowners ask us about is a different scenario: they have Cambria quartz on an outdoor kitchen counter, a pool surround, or a front entry feature, and the paver driveway or walkway that leads to it has failed. The two surfaces meet, the pavers settle, and now the joint between them is uneven, pooled with water, or pulling away from the Cambria edge.

For that reason, we treat “Cambria compatibility” as a question of elevation and edge detail, not part numbers. When we set pavers next to a Cambria surface, we account for the Cambria thickness, usually 2 cm or 3 cm, and we build the paver base so the finished paver height lands flush or slightly below the Cambria edge. Get that wrong and you’ll have a toe-catcher that chips the quartz or sends water under it. In Tampa, where heavy afternoon rain is a fact of life from June through September, that detail matters more than the paver brand.

If you’re buying a house with this setup, check the seam between the pavers and the Cambria surface. If you can fit a quarter into the gap, water has been getting in, and the base under the pavers will eventually show it.

Signs Your Cambria Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

The pavers themselves rarely fail first. Here’s what actually goes wrong, and what it’s telling you:

  • Low spots that hold water after rain. If a section of your driveway stays wet for hours after the rest dries, the base rock underneath has settled or washed out. In Tampa’s sandy soil, this is the most common failure we see, especially along the edges where water flows off the driveway.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot. A paver that tilts when you step on it means the sand layer under it has migrated. Left alone, the edges of that paver chip, then the neighbors around it start moving too.
  • Weeds pushing up through the joints. One or two weeds is normal maintenance. A thick crop means the joint sand is gone and the pavers are no longer locked together. The weeds are just the visible symptom of a stabilizing layer that’s missing.
  • Gap opening between pavers and your Cambria surface. If the joint at your Cambria edge is widening or the pavers are pulling away, the edge restraint has failed or was never installed properly. That restraint is what keeps the whole field locked in place.
  • Crumbling or sinking along the driveway perimeter. Tampa’s summer storms push water to the edges, and if the edge restraint isn’t buried deep with compacted base support, that’s where the collapse starts. It travels inward from there.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

In Tampa, a full paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, paver quality, and how much of the base needs to be rebuilt. A partial repair, where we lift a settled section, re-compact the base, and reset the pavers, usually lands between $1,200 and $3,000 depending on size and access. If the base under a failed section is completely gone, you’re closer to full replacement pricing on that section because we dig down and start over.

Scope Typical Tampa Price Range
Full paver driveway install $7,000 – $18,000
Section lift, base rebuild, re-set pavers $1,200 – $3,000
Joint sand replacement and re-compaction $400 – $900
Edge restraint replacement (linear footage) $15 – $30 per foot

Every quote from Bradford Remodeling Co Tampa is written down before work starts. The price covers materials, labor, haul-off of the old subbase where needed, and compaction. We don’t come back at the end with a change order for “unexpected soil conditions” because in Tampa the soil conditions are never unexpected, they’re sand and they’re wet. That’s what you bid for.

All paver work in Tampa carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. The compacted base we build either holds through the next rainy season or we come back and correct it at no charge. Straight number, clear scope, no surprises at close-out.

DIY or Call Us?

For this part, the honest answer is: you can inspect, but you shouldn’t rebuild. Lifting a few pavers, checking what’s underneath, and replacing joint sand is within a capable homeowner’s reach, and we will tell you how to evaluate it. The moment you’re moving more than a few square feet of pavers, or the base underneath is washing out, the work requires plate compactors, proper drainage grading, and rebuilt edge restraints. Get those wrong and you’ll be doing it again in eighteen months, but now with a heavier damage bill.

There’s no high-tension danger here like a garage spring or gas line, but there is a real back-injury risk from lifting pavers all day, and a real water-damage risk to your home if the driveway is graded wrong and directs runoff toward the foundation. That’s not a trade-secret scare line. It’s the first thing we look for when we walk a Tampa driveway.

If you want a quick read on your situation, call (941) 655-9297. We’ll tell you what’s probably happening based on what you describe, and if it’s something you can fix yourself with bag of joint sand, we’ll say that.
